29 years ago, a group of multi-family and associates met and formed The Montgomery Apartment Managers Association. The association was chartered on April 20, 1972. Mildred "Cookie" Boudreau was selected as the first president of the newly formed organization. Janie Merrifield was the secretary/treasurer of the association. The original members of the association were: Evelyn Sego, Cookie Boudreau, Ann Maynard, Janie Merrifield, Ronald McCallan, Ann Overton, Larry Quimby, Dalton Riddle, Carrie Turner and Brenda Wyatt representing property owners and managers. Two advisors from First National Bank (now Regions Bank) were Jen Mooney and Rosalie Cox. In 1978, the name was changed to the Montgomery Apartment Association. In April of 2008, the association's board of directors elected to re-name the association to The River Region Apartment Association
